Which amp (presumably Fender) will deliver Vibro Champ tones at a louder but still small-gig-useable volume?

    Thanks,

    Hmm, maybe a Princeton (non-reverb)?

Get someone to bypass the tone controls. Basicly copy the schematic of the 50s champ. It will sound MUCH better and its a 5 minute job.

Sounds cool, but I need some more volume too. Any more suggestions anyone?

I don`t think you`ll get results from a 2 power tube push pull circuit .
The VC is pure class A and I think you`d need something w 2 or 4 6v6`s in true class A ...gonna cost you !

A princeton is push pull AB and will be much smoother and more "polite" than a VC
    I`ve also tried a Musicmaster Bass 2x 6V6 ...no go !

Have you ever run your VC into a large cab ? Try a 2x12 or 4x10 cab .. it`s WAY louder than stock . Be very careful to only run a 4 ohm load

I'd consider modding your Vibro Champ by doing the John Phillips mod, changing the power tube to a JJ, adding the Area 51 fixed bias mod, and installing the "big" Weber Champ speaker. Your Vibro Champ will be about twice as loud and full as stock.

A Deluxe and a Princeton both sound way different than a VC.

If you want to get a bit more volume, how about a 12-inch speaker cabinet?

doc's idea of the JJ tube and perhaps the mods sounds interesting...
