Good point. I don't get see any need for an electric bike that imitates a traditional gasoline one, but I am interested in what the motorcycle re-imagined as an electric might look like. Anybody doing that yet?

I could like the idea of cruising a deserted back road in silence. I loved sailing - moving across the water with only the sound of water against the hull is wonderful.

What if they "accidentally" chopped the perp into bits in a pursuit? There's got to be a downside to that, right?

I don’t think that’s frowned upon in Dubai yet.

It would be a hit for anyone but HD. The people who buy these just want another 1959 Sunburst Les Paul re-issue.

    Oh...wait....

I remember seeing something years ago about a car at the drag strip that was powered by an electric motor. When the driver floored the throttle it instantly went to maximum torque and snapped the axle in half

Harley fans s a whole don't really go looking for modern or efficient.
I think they'll smartly make it leak oil often just to make it familiar to the base.

Ugh, Harley can't get out of it's own way. They are solving a problem that doesn't exist IMHO. There is zero upside for this vehicle. This may be the most expensive bike every made off a production line. Gas mileage on bikes is very good, even Harleys. For most folks, they are weekend getaway vehicles so the range is very prohibitive. I understand they want to look forward and change your demographic, but come on...use your heads. Millenials don't ride that much and they certainly won't pay 30k to do it.

    Dubai, dude. No problem.
I doubt it will ever be frowned upon in that part of the world; you're guilty until proven innocent and that ain't gonna happen unless they want it to happen.

At the base of it all; motorcycle to car ratio is extremely small, there are very few bikes on the road and therefore should be no big worries to make them "green". Bad idea overall.

Oh, great. So now we have to choose between a Harley and a Mac Pro for the next second mortgage?

I don't think it looks terrible but the price point is crazy. I personally wouldn't won't my bike to be silent. I like the noise and I use it to help me ride better. It's a connection between the machine and myself. I know by sound when to optimally shift and when to rev match my downshifts, the throttle response and sound when exiting corners, etc.

If it rides silent...it might actually be pretty cool imo
