I went back and forth about whether I liked mine well enough to keep it. I've since decided it's such a unique pedal I'd keep it. It does have a significant volume boost even set at it's lowest so this can turn some folks off . . . . .I use mine in front of a Timmy or Stupid Box and it absolutely kills as an additional stage of gain into these pedals.
Differant then a Treible boost even though it does boost the highs, just boost the right freq.
It works best in front of my RC pedal and SVO OD
I tried using after the pedals but found it better working before,Works great with humbucks, but has a perfect Hendrix Wind cries Mary tones with a Strat.
This is a great pedal! And the more you use it the more you hear how well it works with all the other friends on the pedalBoard.
I can't wait to hear this pedal... Should be hear today.. So right now I have Homebrew Comp-Retro, Cry Baby, Microvibe, Timmy, Red Snapper, Landgraff DO, Klon, running into the Amp.. Where would you guys put the COT 50 in this configuration??
you're gonna have to work that one out. just start at before your 1st od, & keep leap-frogging until you find the pedals it's best before & after. won't take you long. btw, this IS the ped to use after a vibe! good luck.
I would take a bullet before I would give or sale my Landgraff to anyone.. LOL!! I really mean that.. I haven't kicked on the Timmy, or the RS since I've gotton the Landgraff.. It's just the Klon, and The Landgraff, and the Klon's best friend, the Homebrew Comp-Retro.. Everything else just sits their looking pretty...
Slightly off topic, but the way people like to boost other pedals with the COT 50... I wanted to add that I use my Eternity set as a treble boost with my Menatone KOTB, it gives the KOTB everything its lacking (high mid clarity). I've often wondered how the COT would work for this, it seems like you guy's think it works great. Ive never heard an OD that works well with other ODs, until the Eternity. Sean rulz!
Run the 50 first.....period....you can control the od with your guitar. You won't get a volume boost if the pedal is on and you use the guitars volume control.
I am considering the COT 50 along with the Fulltone OCD and possibly a Menatone...
I am looking to get a more vintage Marshall tone out of my existing set-up: Holland Lil Jimi or a PV Delta Blues (1x15), but I am not looking for any kind of 80s metal super lead type of thing. Just something to give me a bit more of the old Marshall voicing and a little marshall crunch. I keep it simple, and often only have one pedal that gets any use... a Sparkle Drive, set up for a bit of bite and a little boost. But it would be nice to have a Marshall voice in a pedal..
I often can't crank the amps I have, and I like to be able to retain a relatively clean sound at gig volume... using a pedal to give me a bit of that early Marshall "oomph"
I hear it kind of like a nice pre-amp. The over-drive timbre/break-up reminds me of the way a marshal breaks up, and at higher settings like a fuzz.
Great gooser pedal!! Also I really like the way it sounds when running a fuzz into it.
But.. mine has been taken from me. Strangely enough, my bass player really really likes running it into his tube bass amp set fully counter-clockwise. Gives him a nice attack and crunch for certain tunes.
I'm trying to find one that melds with the Lovepedals. I've been considering a Twin 60 (or Deluxe 60) and a COT 50. Sean's stuff is the best I've tried.
I can't play at screaming high volumes at home though.
Anyone have experience with these two please lend advice!
