It's been a LONG time since I've played one but I remember liking it a lot. Is it anything like a JCM900 (which I hated with a passion), or is it more like a JCM800.

I've got a buddy who has the 4203 (combo version).

Suprisingly, it sounds GREAT. You really would not believe that it has a SS preamp. VERY Marshally. A very good clean (and I'm told a mod can be done that makes the clean better.) And LOUD as hell for 30 watts.

I'd put it much more in the 800 camp than the 900.

there are some mods that can be performed to make them sound better. in particular, more low end, better clean, etc.

Not much. Thinkin' of bustin' out the Artist this Saturday night. Only doing one drop-D song so the '80s Marshall might be the ticket!

BTW I listened to LRM, I dig! I love The Cult. Electric is one of the best rock albums. Nice licks :JAM

There's one here(I'm on the right coast, though) and it's at a Guitar Center,
so I don't think you'd be interested, anyway..

    It's in a Bluesbreaker sized/spec'd 2x12 combo cab--looks real good, though
    I haven't plugged into it.

    I think they're asking a bit much(no surprise,there) at $1100; but it has
also been there for months, and they could probably be talked down in order
to move it out the door.

Anyway, it's GC,so I'm sure it wouldn't be worth pursuing, for you.

    Oh Lordy no.

$1100? It's GC, so at MOST they'll come down a few hundred.

Check ebay, most of them are going for the $4-500 buck range Even the 1x12 Combo's.

Ditto. I had the combo for a while, and I thought both channels sounded thin, though I liked the gain in the lead channel. Then my wife got me a 7 band EQ for a gift. I threw that in the loop, tweeked the sliders for a while to trump up the bass and and mids, and had that thing sounding much more rock-approved. I don't remember why I got rid of it.

Thanks man. I'm actually playing rhythm in that band, no leads. And I'm LOVING it!

I used the 3203 heads for a little while. I'm a fan of the mini stacks (big look, easy portability). I abandoned the heads because they just didn't have the bit I was looking for -- no presence control either. Also, you can't get a good clean sound.

I recommend buying a used one on eBay and try it out for yourself. If you don't like it, you can probably sell it for the same amount you paid for it.

I've heard they're like a poor man's Jubilee. How close are they and what exactly are the tonal differences (dirty channel only).
