Okay... I've got Acid Pro 4.0. I've got a guitar, and I've got a PodXT Live. What else do I need to record? I'm not looking to make pro-quality recordings, just mostly to scratch out some ideas onto the hard disk.

Can I record directly through the PodXT Live's USB port into Acid Pro?

Sorry for the newb question... it's a long way from stickin' a mic in front of a cab and hitting "record."

As far as i know, you can. (one of its feature points is usb I/O). I do not have a PodXT myself, but I DO use acid, and It should show up in there under audio devices, provided the setup is all run correctly for the usb drivers.

Cool... now I just have to figure out how to get Acid to recognize the Pod, right?

There should be drivers and firmware updates for the pod you can download and install. I would think you'd just set windows to read the pod *as* yer sound card, then pull it off the drop down menu under audio preferences.
My best guess scenario, anyway ;)

a quick google search came up with some forum threads at harmony central involving the same topic and it looks like it can do just what yer asking.

THAT'S the key. Write something great. Spend more time writing and less time futzing. The tones don't matter, the levels don't have to be perfect. The playing doesn't have to be perfect... if the SONG is great.
