I was trying to figure out how broadly to define "hometown" since I grew up in Fairfax County - but if the DC metro area agree with those metioned and would add:

    Dave Grohl
Kelly Willis (americana singer/songwriter and a treasure - was a class behind me in high school)

Well we'll rant and we'll roar like true Newfoundlanders! Great Big Sea (ok maybe not international stars but they had a nice run in Canada and certain parts of the states)

I'll add to the DC area artists:

    Tommy Keene
    Mary Chapin Carpenter

All the harDCore bands in addition to Bad Brains - Minor Threat, Government Issue etc... important scene if somewhat less known bands mostly.

I’m not sure of any famous Rock Stars born in my adopted home town of Clearwater, Florida, but the Stones supposedly wrote “Satisfaction” while staying in a hotel there.

Also, Jim Morrison went to Junior College in Clearwater, Florida (SPJC).

I believe that the band, The Outlaws” were from just across the bay in Tampa.

Another adopted town of mine, Jacksonville, Florida, was the source of the most great Rock Bands out of Florida, including Lynyrd Skynyrd and so many others.

The answer to your question is two jazz guitarists...
Billy Bauer who was Joe's teacher and played with Lennie Tristano.
Ray Gogarty- jazz guitar teacher at Five Towns College.

I don't know how I forgot Dave Grohl. I actually went to St Philip in Falls Church and got accepted to Bishop Ireton LOL!

When I was a kid my parents owned 40 acres of woods between Crystal Falls and Iron Mountain. I have many fond memories of that area.

Brad Delp was from my hometown and graduated from my high school (albeit 20 years ahead of me!)

James LaBrie, the leader singer of Dream Theater is literally from the small town of Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada where I grew up. I am pretty sure that he has a house still in Midland, Ontario which is about a five minute drive from Penetanguishene. I moved about an hour from Midland and when I had a water softener installed, the employee told me about how he had recently done some repairs to the one at Jame’s house. Not a fan of the band but kind of cool that he stuck around the small town.
