I have a EHX Big Muff and a BYOC Triangle Muff clone. I wanna branch out. Tone Benders look pretty cool but very expensive. (Throbak is 250. D.A.M are off the chart.) BYOC sells a two knob bender that is 129 built to your door. It's that gunmetal grey but you can paint it, or get some artistic person to paint it for you.

Seems like a great deal. Anyone have any experience with this pedal or any other cheap bender?

Or maybe I should go in a different direction entirely. Suggestions (for something that will contrast nicely with my Muffs?)

I have one, that I built (byoc) and love it. Not as refined as some MkII's that I have and love, but it's a fine 'Bender. Of course, a lot of fools will say you have to spend a wad of cash to get into the game. I would highly suggest the Ramble FX Twin Bender of you want something already built, it's like a two in one (MkII/Mk1.5) deal.

Don't know about BYOC, but Lovepedal's new Bonetender is fantastic. Based on MkII tonebender. And when you crank the gain to max it does a great cocked wah which is very addictive. Loads of volume and gain on tap, but retains great definition throughout the range.

The Fulltone Soulbender is an easy to find clone. Mark II supposedly. GC has them used for about $100. Great versatile pedal.

Try the Earthquaker Devices Tone Reaper. It is $145 brand new and probably cheaper used. It's a good 3 knob Tone Bender if I remember correctly.

I've been interested in the Ramble FX. I'm loving the SoldgoldFX Rosie, which is $175 and has gobs of output (not a clone, but a Si recreation so you can have the output, consistency and use AC adapter). -E

I keep telling people, but the Bearfoot Candy Apple Fuzz gold (Ge) is like having 5 or 6 fuzzes in one box. I'm a longtime Tonebender guy, but the CAF is what stays on my board, gig after gig.

I have the byoc bender. It's very good and I think you'll be happy with it if you go that route. That said, I've found that I really like silicon transistors in fuzzes. Fortunately, the byoc comes with sockets for the trannies so you can easily experiment to find what you like.

Another to consider: the Way Huge Havalina. It's coming out soon but you cans find clips online. I'm really looking forward to it. To me, it has a bender flavor and also has a tone knob.

You could always look for a Hudson Electronics Mr. Soul. It is a described as a cross between a Tone Bender and Fuzz Face.

I think the BYOC is a fantastic bender. Personally, I prefer the bias to be adjustable with an external knob, but that's a minor quibble.

If you're able to spent a decent amount of money I think the Red Witch Fuzzgod is the best of its type. Very different than a Big Muff.
