The EJ Strat?

Thinking of buying one and in doing my research I've read several people say it's a rather stiff feeling guitar to play. So I was just wondering if it's possibly because it comes with heavier gauge strings?

I like .009–.046 strings on my Gibson scale guitars, but for a full 25.5" scale length Strat I think I'd use regular .009–.042s just because it is going to be stiffer.
