    All things "ambient".
It's fine for other people, and I'm not throwing shade. But I'd never play anything ambient.
Swells are for steel guitars, you silly sillies.

    Wot? Where?
I had a Rockman X100 when I first started playing. :( It was horrible.

What kind of guitar tone is "normal" with both chorus and echo on? Dirt sounds were pretty bad too.

Ring mod is the easy answer but I hate wah for me. Sounds great when others play it but I can’t stand it.

Tube screamers, because they sound terrible into a clean amp.

Lots of evidence to suggest otherwise.

I don't know man. They sound really good into a cranked tube amp, but into a clean amp at reasonable volumes they sound like garbage.

Hate is a strong word, but I really really don't like bit crushers. I'm pretty sure those were the original lyrics.

Vibrato. Feeling seasick isn’t what music should be about.

    Ring Mod
    Splatty Fuzz
    Bit Crush
    OTT Spring Reverb
    Flanger on Jet Plane settings
Chorus/Flanger on "Fast Rotary" settings (seriously guys... it sounds rubbish)
Distortion with too much gain/mush high in mix or "bee in a biscuit tin" treble fizz. Pro's do not do this... why do you?
Delay with too much pitchy modulation.

That'll do for now. There's more to come.

Shimmer or upper pitch shifting. Cold and unnatural sounding.

I used to hate certain effects, but I think in maturing as a musician (not just a guitarist). I am starting to see effects I don’t like as tools that I haven’t figured out how to use tastefully yet. We’ve all heard bad use of flangers. I would rather not use one than use it bad. But I would be rather proud of myself if I could find a tasteful use for one.

Chorus would be the obvious answer. I don’t hate it, but, okay sometimes I hate it, but it can be used tastefully, then it’s mediocre.
