cool, do u have any experience with the chinese made current production 6v6 from groove tubes? I have them in my amp but Im not impressed. Im wondering if I got a dog or Im just not into 6v6 in this amp?

The other option is that you don't like the Chinese 6V6s. This is entirely possible.

JJs have stayed in 3 of the 4 amps that I've tried them in. They do have a longer glass envelope, so make sure that they will fit first.

JJ's are the toughest new 6v6 I've tried But they also put out good power so some people don't like them because they're too clean. Still, for high voltage, new tube, JJ is one of the best.

I have a set of jj's, tung sol's and EH in my peters dual channel. The all sound slightly different, but after a few minutes of playing, it just sound like my amp always does. Good.

I've got a new production Chinese 6v6 in my Victoria 518 Champ repro at the moment. It's not to bad. The tone is nice - but, it seems to have more "mechanical" tube noise than other 6V6s I've used. I've also used the EH 6v6 with good results as well. Good sounding tube. I usually prefer NOS 6v6s but, the EH and new Chinese are pretty good sounding, and reliable in my experience. I haven't used a JJ yet.

+1 I have JJ's,EH,RCA,GE, Sylvania's and the new Tung Sols sound very close to my NOS RCA 7408's. The 7408's have a little less note seperation but a sweeter,softer compression than the Tung Sols, but it's pretty close.

i like the new tung sols. the JJs are a beefier valve and they will run at +500 volts, which i know of no other 6V6 that will do so.

i don't have a flexi, but the tung sol in the univalve sounds warm and round and the JJ sounds big and clear.

a quad of JJ 6V6s in my bludo running at silly voltages is the sound of rock & roll.

Still, for high voltage, new tube, JJ is one of the best.

I believe it is THE best for high voltage applications. Its rated for handling up to 500 V. I'm fairly certain no other modern or vintage 6V6 is rated for that amount of voltage. You can argue tonal properties all day but if you have a 40 watt 6L6 amp that's too loud or too clean, you can swap the JJ's in (with a rebias) to tame it without worrying about blowing them up.
