Who's doing the rating? TGP members? Then I'd have to pick a brand that gets quite a few negative comments. Epiphone. I have two and like both of them, a Broadway and an LP Special. A Gibson LPS with P90s is my dream guitar. One of the reasons that I don't own it is because I can't imagine that the Gibson would be much better unless I pop for a custom shop model. The Epi is a set neck model with quality hardware, the stock P90s even sound good. The neck is perfect for me, the action is great and the fretwork is very good.
Mike Gee Kustoms.

I put the stickers on.
Schecter. The build quality on my Schecter C-1 is just stellar.
I was on a hunt for one recently and i learnt a lot of things about them. Surprisingly despite their iconic status, being featured in some wonderful recordings in every decade and all the bells and whistles that many guitar brands wish to have ; they were not popular.
The electromatic range goes for less than 1k, while the MIK models 1k and above, mostly were quite well made with nothing much to argue against. This is comparing against epis and fender squires that cost more, even PRS tends to cost more. Plus they come with binding which is even crazier.
Id think that the guitar that had that many iconic moments in rock history would be as popular and in demand as F&G.
I'll throw in EVH. Lots of people wont consider a Wolfgang because of the Eddie connection but it is a great design.

and my username.
Anything other than F&G.
Godin and Yamaha for sure.
Gibson. They make magical instruments in the USA that everybody tries to copy. People love trashing them tho. F and G are the sound and look of rock n roll. S/o to Ric and Gretsch too.
Ernie Ball, Musicman
It's Yamaha. The value of their instruments is very high. Build quality vs price is excellent and has been for decades. They know what they're doing, but have flown under the radar for a long time because they are a mass producer and the brand name doesn't have the sex appeal of Fender or Gibson.
I'm with you on that! I love the MIJ Yamaha guitars old and new!
