Kinda interested, anyone using one yet, especially with Marshalls?
Thanks, in advance!
Hated it. It had all the wrong junk in all the wrong places.
The od808 otoh, is a masterpiece. One of my favorite overdrives available.
Btw, one of the vids floating around is mine. The one with the maxon earth also in it.
I guess I don't "hate" it. I just didn't like it very much.
Agreed...Maxon OD808, or even BBE Green Screamer is hard to top for "that sound".
I liked it but for TS type stuff I'm enjoying the Rimrock PT.
The 808X was good for the thrash tones I was into. I used it into my mid gain set Splawn Quick Rod.
I have a clip comparing it to my VFE Ice Scream. I'll see if I can find it.
I use a Seymour Duncan 805 Overdrive as a boost for my Marshall JCM 800 (1983 100 watt head) Marshall JCM 900 (1991 100 watt head) and Marshal JCM 2000 (2001 50 watt head) with 1960 & 1936 cabs with V30's. I owned the Maxon 808 and used it for a bit, but I have been using the 805 now for a little over a year. The Seymour Duncan 805 was designed to boost an already distorted amp, and the 3 band eq is what really sold it for me!! I also use this pedal to boost my Mesa Boogie Mark IV just for a bit of a volume boost and it does it nice!! I highly recommend you check out the 805!!
Kinda forgot about the 805, clips do sound very good for that Duncan pedal!
It's all about pairing your OD with your amp. I found the 808x bright, so pairing with a darker amp sounds awesome, but it sounded pretty harsh into the marshally amps I tried it with.
