What is this crud on my power tube?

I gig with it regularly, always moved with a cover on it, stored in a nice dry clean room. Those are backplate 6v6s. Should i try to clean it off? It's only on that one tube.

Who knows?

I would try a paper towel or napkin dampened with a bit of water to scrub that off. Try not to get the damp paper on the "6V6" stamp or any logo printing on the glass; it's very easy to wash off the labeling on old tubes.

If water doesn't get it clean, alcohol or naphtha definitely will (or use Goo Gone or similar if that's what you have on hand).

I wouldn't even worry about it, it's not going to affect anything. It's just magic tone crud

Probably baked on bird droppings, if you or someone pulled those tubes out of some old thing.
