I have been listening to George since he became a prominent voice in the 70s and I can remember being knocked by his live appearances on Midnight Special. I had many of his CTI recordings on 8-track tape and of course his LPs going back to It’s Uptown.

if I had to pick my favorite playing of his, it would be pretty tough, but Coming Back Home, a Jan Hammer tune from Tony Williams’ Joy of Flying, would be at the top of my list.

Absolutely ridiculous playing. This is where Billy Roger's got his stuff. Imagine if George just showed up today and started playing like that?
    Guys would be floored.
    Thanks for that.

A few more in that times style. Great solos by George in both.

The Cooker was the first George Benson I heard (in fact the first Jazz that I heard).

The whole album is great as well.

George has great tone, some Jazz players go a bit nuts on the treble rolldown but George's sound is about where it should be IMO.

I like that like version he does on YT of take 5. He's like a rollercoaster and he rips that song apart.

No so much the solo, but hearing "nature boy" for the first time got my attention.

I love his tones. The Guild X500 and Artist Awards too.

I'm not as familiar with his catalogue as most around here, but from what I am familiar with it would be the whole Giblet Gravy record.

I am not a fan of LA fusion so everything I have is pre-Breezin'.
It never got better than Cookbook IMO.
