Like the title says. It seems on the Dimarzio forum everyone swears by the Norton in the bridge and air norton in the neck.

You really have to check them out by yourself.
I owned some DiMarzio humbuckers some years ago. I am not really into the tone of the AIR NORTON in the neck, it sounds very thin and trebly in my EBMM silhouette but that's just my opinion.
My favorite DiMarzio humbuckers will be the Breed neck and the Breed bridge. They sound pretty warm, fat, smooth, big, not very modern sounding and not very vintage sounding.

Depends upon the guitar, the position, and what I'm going for. I am a huge Dimarzio fan over all, and right now I have an Ibanez RG with an Air Zone in the bridge, and the AZ is *perfect* for that position on that guitar-- warm, yet clear and very articulate and responds well to the volume knob.

Usually I'm not a fan of hot pickups but I like that one and, oddly enough, the Super Distortion. Can't go wrong with that in the bridge of an LP or a Floyd-equipped super strat.

For neck PU's, I like the "old" Virtual PAF's. Haven't tried the 36th Anniversary PAF that replaced these, but I've seen some rave reviews here and elsewhere. VPAF's are also very tasty in the bridge of an LP or Semi-hollow type guitar if you're going for a straight vintage vibe.

Awesome! My favs as well.
They can do pretty much any genre really well, IMO.
As soon as I saw the title, I wanted to jump in and praise the Breeds!

I put the new 36th anniversary pups in my custom MJ Mirage, with splits, and they are absolutely beautiful sounding. I put them in based on opinions from an earlier TGP thread.

So far, out of the ones I've tried, the Tone Zone. It's rated at hot output, but feels like morel like vintage-hot to medium output to me. Cleans up really well with the guitar's volume & has great string separation as well.

Without a doubt for me it is the 36th Anniversary PAF. Love that pickup, I did help beta test it so I may be a little skewed...;)

I really just love what Steve Blucher did on that pickup. Of course it is vintage sounding but that is what I like. It is very articulate and it is the closest I have found to the pickups in my '64 345.

I had an Epi Les Paul that I had installed with what I think were called PAF Classics (which may be the pickups that have now become the 36th Anniversary PAF? not sure) but these pickups were great sounding- not too powerful, musical, warm and tonally well-balanced. And they were cheap, like $75 or so... Had to sell the guitar, but these pickups were every bit as nice as Gibson '57 Classics and warmer than the Burst Bucker #2's both of which I have owned...

I love the DiMarzio Super 2 in the neck of my 24-fret Ibanez. Im going for that aggressive Gilbert/Racer X shred tone and it gets damn close. Super-fluid but with great attack.

For bridge humbuggies I like Seymour Duncan a whole lot better, especially the Distortion, Custom and Full Shred.

I really like as well as own many different pickups. My fravorite Dimarzio bridge humbucker however is the Evo of Ibanez Steve Vai fame. I suggested to a friend who payed an Ibanez RG w/Alder wood body to try it and it was tonal rock bliss. I hear these ceramic babies don't mosh well with mahogany axes such as Gibson LP or SG. For those I'd go with Dimarzio's high output, alnico "Tonezone".

I have a breed bridge and a Liquifire neck in a all mahogany 24 fret Carvin st300m.
Sounds pretty good.
I have breed neck and bridge in a all walnut Carvin DC127M.

I all have a tone zone in bridge of a alder bodied Carvin dc127m

I tried the evo2's in the walnut guitar and didnt care for it.

I've got a set of Bluesbuckers in a mahogany frankentele I put together. It's my most played guitar. Though they are Dimarizio's humbucker size take on P-90's they really don't accurately nail the P-90 tone. However I love them. They have a bit more twang then your standard humbucker and clean up real nicely. Not sure if they are my favorite but I like em a lot. I've also got an Air zone in another guitar which is a Med output which I like. I'd like to try a 36th Ann but don't have a guitar to put one in...:D

I've used a PAF for years now, very clear, not too powerful, so it works well with single-coils, perfect humbucker for a strat-player that needs a little more "omph" without losing too much clarity, it will not turn a guitar into a fire-breathing metal monster. :)

I got a couple PAF Pros in the mail a few days ago, two for $60 on eBay, sweet deal.
It's not a lot hotter than the PAF, but it have this cool "zing" to the top end that I like a lot. It's not bright in that it have a lot of treble, more of a presence boost. Would be a killer neck pickup in a Les Paul as well.

I love the 36th Anniversary with split coils that's in my LP Custom bridge position. I went through tons of different PAF-type pups (boutique and mass produced) and it, by far, had the most authentic PAF tone in that guitar. I have a Air Zone in the neck which is good, but may not stay...at times, I love it there, and other times, not so much..

I have a Strat that has 3 of the HS-2's that will never leave that Strat.

If you haven't tried it already, try wiring your bridge HS-2 as a single-coil, that how Eric Johnson always ran his HS-2's, it sounds killer. The pickup gets a tad hotter when split.

That's how I have them wired...makes a huge difference in tone to me!
