Fulltone Plimsoul has a great Marshall sound. All of the so called "MIAB" pedals are way too scooped to mimic any Marshall that I've ever owned.

Interested in this as I’ve recently acquired a clean, sort of pedal platform amp.

I have a couple gain options now (Archer, GTO, Prince of Tone), but none of them really get into a convincing crunchy Marshall sound. I’m definitely open to suggestions.

The amp in question is a Victory V140.

I have a few on my board. I always play through a clean amp.

    Sunface BC109C
Plumes (I'm using this as one might use a Tubescreamer)
Earthbound Audio Iron Pig (modified RAT clone)
    DCW Mrs. Marsha (MIAB)
    Ram's head reissue Muff

Both fuzzes actually sound good through the clean amp. Usually, I stack Fuzz Faces and Muffs when using a clean amp, but I found with these you don't have to - they're surprisingly thick.

Tubescreamer/RAT - really THE BEST combo for a clean amp IMO. It seems alot of clean amps have a boomy low-end. This combo helps tighten things up and add the mids necessary to use with a clean amp.

The DCW MM is a new pedal for me. Don't know if the maker designed it to be used in front of a clean amp, however the highs are subdued in this pedal which seems to make it a perfect match for a clean amp since there is no spiky treble fizz.

Modern country and Van Halen type gain at the most. Not looking for the brootz.

While I'm on the fence about Lovepedal in general, I've been LOVING the Silver Jubilee with a Naga Viper out front lately. I have a Purple Plexi also, but it's not quite as good for me. I've been digging LM386 based circuits more and more of late. Gonna check out the Greer Sucker Punch next.

For a clean rig and you have a couple of great boosts that can take it further than its cranked plexi level - Barber Direct Drive. One of the multiple variants including the older large versions, the BUSS and new Compact Direct Drive for instance. It would be my emphatic recommendation. Its an amazing Marshally pedal that works amazing as a base tone. My main rig these days is a Carol Ann customized JTM50 type plexi set clean with a Direct Drive as the basis of the dirt. And I boost it with multiple flavors. A Mythical OD (klon) or a Timmy mostly.

Any particular iteration of the Direct Drive you recommend? I'm playing a Nashville tele with Duncan Quarter Pounds and an older PRS CE22.

All of them have sounded great to me. I'd contact Barber and get his latest version.

Can you talk more about this? I have a super ridiculous fancy 'screamer (EQD Palisades) and like it but would love to get something with more roar and thunder but that play nicely. I'd get the new RAT2, but I hear they're pretty similar.

I know, I know, what amp, what guitar - just curious about your experience. Thanks!
