Plain DiMarzio PAF, great pickup. And the 36th's are supposed to be even better, still very affordable.

I really dig my Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers.

Big time maker, original designer. Gotta be good! I had a set of these... I wasn't disappointed. I do like my Sheptones better, though. And they weren't a whole lot more 'spensive (used).

I like to use Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pros in that application. They pair well with any decently-hot Strat middle pickup if you go with a H/S/H configuration.

Do you have these in both neck and bridge? Which guitar? How do they sound clean?

The guitar I'm asking about is an HH tele with an alder body.

Yes, I have them in both neck and bridge, in a '95 Les Paul Studio. They sound fantastic clean.

Another vote for the PAF 36th Anniversary DiMarzio. Love the articulation and smoothness of the sound. Hotter than my Gibson 57s but with just the perfect edge. Great cleans, and did I mention the articulation?

one thing to note is that you're going to want to make sure the pots are 500k.

other than that, i also highly suggest the Air Norton. i use it as a bridge pup with a PAF in the neck.
