Looking for an open OD that has a decent amount of gain, not a dedicated low gainer, without fizziness, EQ tweaks a plus.

definitely not a tubescreamer and you'll sound better that 90% of us...

may i suggest liquid sunshine, box of rock or ocd.

Yeah, +1 on OCD. I would also go with Hermida Distortion. No fizzy on either pedal. Very strong to soft depending on the gain dial.

For not quite as much Distortion, but great OD that can be smooth and creamy (depending on the dials) I also like the Barber Small Fry. Super tweakable.

The fulltone OCD is a good choice as is the MI audio Blues boy Deluxe.

OCD is pretty good, but I would look at the Barber Direct Drive Low Gain as well.

    Where do you get em!
(Edit) Very hard to find some info, But alas, Ouch! Big money(really big!) & long wait. But that's the kind of reviews I'm looking for. Just not that much $.

Also, I had an OCD, it sounds like a pedal. Sold it.
Also, Equip used is in my sig.

    Well,
I personally really dig the Fulltone FullDrive2.
    GREAT pedal, very amplike.
And alot cheaper than the LDO. (retail: $179)

Have a look at Effects Pedal Boutique as a lower cost alternative

If you're on a budget get a Tubescremer DX and a soldering iron, you will create great things! Or, check out IvIark's link.

You have a Mesa Lonestar. Anything sounds good through them. I know I have one. Try the Xotic pedals. I have all 3 and love them. Might want to consider a Zen or Timmy. Depends on what you are looking for.

yes...with that Lonestar an Xotic would be great. The BB thru the lonestar....... just check out Andy Timmons on youtube if you have not already.

The BB has some eq to play with and can deliver some gain but cleans up nicely also.

My BYOC OD with a BB chip and Landgraff'ish mods sounds crazy good for solo's.

No offense but what amp are you referring to? My FD2 sounds like a Tube Screamer with a cold. Not that it's a bad pedal, I think it's great for smooth singing leads that will cut right through the mix, but I wouldn't call it amp-like.

I wouldn't have any problem recommending a Tube Screamer to the OP, it's a great place to start. There are a lot more great options though.
