I've freed up an older Tablet PC that I want to use as a mobile recording device.

What do you recommend that is reliable, relatively easy interface and good sound quality?

the computer is a Pentium III at 933MHz running 760MB RAM and a 40-60GB hard-drive. USB ports are the older version 1. I have no idea what the sound card is, but the built in speaker is crappy and trebly.

Are there any decent USB interfaces and recording programs that will let me multitrack 2-4 tracks and work with the tracks afterwards with this system?

I'm using Cubase SE with an M-Audio Delta 44 soundcard and breakout box into a Dell PC w/ 1.7Mhz P4 and 1 gig RAM, lots of storage. I have finally solved an IRQ issue after weeks of frustration and am now getting some pretty good, clean recordings and the Cubase interface is pretty intuitive....
