For songs like Samba Pa Ti, Game of love, etc.
Hermida Audio Mosferatu. The end all be all for that Santana type thing for me. Probably covers the Game of Love, Maria, Smooth tones better than the vintage ones.
Mosferatu or Zendrive? Mosferatu sounds quite thin in the clips on manufacturers website. Oh and I have other OD pedals like Screwdriver, OCD, OD9 but I can't seem to find that Santana tone in them.
Ive never been able to get those tones with just one od pedal. I'd say a good comp and A ts type pedal and maybe a EQ pedal to shape it a bit.
A Rat w/the filter turned up will get it, along with a myriad of other classic rock tones.
BK Butler Tube Driver, very natural decay to the note and sweet feedback and sustain overtones, very early santana like tones.
I don't know if there is a pedal out there that will give you that Santana tone. But if you have a Mesa Boogie that would be a good place to start
Get a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV or Mark II for the Santana Tone... or if you're a rack lover the Triaxis is filled with vintage Mark-series tones.
What amp and guitar are you using? Its easier if you have the right amp to start with.
I would say what fingers for Santana tone?
Talking seriously, I suggest the Hermida Zendrive as the best one for this purpose.
I've owned the Zen and Mos, and while the Zen is a great pedal, if you're after Santana, the Mos does it much better, IMO.
Barber Burn Unit EQ or Mosferatu. The Barber's manual even has a Black Magic Tone setting.
Burn Unit EQ Manual
I'd say for early stuff you might want to try an OCD. Recent stuff sounds a lot more like zendrive territory.
one thing you might want to try is a big muff clone with a flat-mids switch.
I would say any decent OD pedal will get you good Santana tone. Tubescreamer, Rat, any Barber pedal. His recent tone is so compressed and middy-any OD can do that.
PLUSH DRIVE....is your pedal
Duncan Twintube Classic, Little Big Muff with a Bad monkey hitting it for cheap, Skreddy Top Fuel, there are multiple ways to get that basic vibe I think. Compressor into the right voice TS style pedal.
I've heard a couple of friends chain a Barber Small Fry with an Xotic BB Pre-amp. Absolutely burns on the slower Santana songs.
It's not a pedal... but for 450 bucks or so you can get a used Mesa Boogie subway rocket, which NAILS Santana's tone.
This is what I use, set the way it's shown.
Santana in a box.
Baber Small Fry gets me there. Max on the burn knob, set dynamics for near full compression. Mini toggle switched to the right. Sweet sustain, harmonics and controlled feedback, all there.
For older Santana sounds I like Zendrive.
