I think Billy just plugged pearly into a Marshall stack, no pedals. What pedal will give this sound, but through a Fender?

Talkin bout the sound that begins at 1:42...

Hard to really get there fully, but i think rats in the lower gain register would get close

No pedals sound like brownface fenders cranked up that I know of.

Brown deluxe would get you there I bet.

THANK YOU. That horrible reverb drenched crap was awful. That's the way it was! And it is one of the best guitar tones ever recorded for my likes. That tone could also be JTM45, so Box of Rock could probably get you there if you have the tone controls set right on you guitar.

I always heard it was a Les Paul, Stratocaster, or Telecaster, straight into an old tweed Deluxe.:huh

So did Billy use a cranked Marshall or tweed Deluxe on Brown Sugar?
