First let me say that this is not intended to be a bash the Timmy thread.:angel

I know the Timmy is a great pedal that has a large following here on the GP and rightfully so!
However, I would be interested in hearing from Timmy users that have found another pedal worthy of bumping it off the board.

What pedal did you find and what about it do you feel it does better?:YinYang

The Varidrive bumped it off my board. The Timmy didn't give me the smooth breakup I was afterwhen you dial it in for higher gain. For low gain, I'd say they were about tied, but for higher gain levels, I haven't found anything that sounds as good as the Varidrive. But I digress, I'm always talking about it. As far as price and size goes, that might very well be a consideration however!

The Timmy knocked my Hotcake of my board....for a while. But the HC has come roaring back. I also like the Keeley Blues Driver, Keeley Sparkle Drive and the Xotic line. Timmy is a great pedal, however there are a lot of great choices for "transparent low gain".

TIM... still have Timmy and take it to jams, use w/ TIM, etc., but the TIM is the one I prefer above all at this point.... love 'em both.

Stop teasing me.. I had my heart set on a combination of a Timmy and a Variddrive. But then I gave up on the Varidrive and decided to stick with SCOD for high gain stuff.. mostly to save some duckets.
You start saying things about the Varidrive and my trigger finger starts to get all itchy again :)

Must be a slow day for traffic fatalities. Have fun with it, and God bless.

    Stoney,

    I have a Varidrive (and a Timmy).
I'll gladly sell you the SIB.

I only got my Timmy recently, and I'm so absolutely impressed that I can't ever imagine selling it.

I don't think this pedal will ever be kicked from my board. Very natural overdrive and the tone-controls (roll-off) are simply fantastic.

I've sold a Timmy and a TIM at various times after purchasing a Honey Bee, a KOT and a Blackstone Mosfet Overdrive.

The HB, KOT and Blackstone and KOT are gone and I have a TIM and Timmy again. For rhythm level clip and boost they just work better for me than anything I've found.

I do miss the Bee though.

I loved my Timmy but the EGDM replaced it. They are totally different and the EGDM had the sound I was after. Paul makes an amazing product. The Timmy is the most transparent OD I've ever heard.

I should also add that at the time I was only able to keep one Distortion.
