What pickups do you have in your PRS Singlecut?

#6 in mine. Not crazy about them, and heard #7 was better. What are you using/have used. Second question will most aftermarket humbuckers fit into a Singlecut or do they require a specific size? Thanks

You know what's better than #7's? #8's. But, wait... there's more. I hear #9's are the bee's tits.

My Singlecut has the stock #7's and they are pretty good. Output is about average, I'd guess. They are clear, slightly muddy on the low end, produce good harmonics. Overall, a good pickup and I like them better than the HFS (I think that's what they were) on my old Custom 22.

Wow it's so crazy you said that, the bee's tits tone is what I'm looking for!! :phones

I used to have a great Singlecut. I had a set of Duncan '59s in it that I much preferred to the stock pickups. It was a wonderful guitar but I decided I wasn't really a humbucker player. I get scolded about once a week for selling that guitar.

#6 in my SC.57'08 in my SC45.
I like the 6's split. They are ok in HB mode.

57/08 are really nice,but mellow.I like them a lot.

I just got a DGT,and those PU's are by far my favorites.

Manlius Hot Rod '59 in the neck, Rio Grande BBQ (uncovered) in the bridge. PAF's on steroids

both are splittable

I have an 07 SC245. I like the stock pickups in it a lot.
So much that the HFS in my CU24 sounds too thin now :jo

A question:
Any ideas for beefing up the HFS? I play blues rock.

I know the CU24 is a different guitar with different factors at work than what's going on with SCs, and maybe especially the 245. But there's gotta be some go-to replacement pups for more beef in the CU24 bridge.

TIA for any suggestions.

My 01 SC has #7s which sound just fine. My 05 SCT had #6s which I never liked. I put sheptones in there and it is my #1 now.

I like the pickups in my SC245 as well. I have 59/09 pickups in my CU 24 and they are awesome; dark and robust which complements that guitar nicely.

Thanks. Yikes! now where to get some of Those? :)

I think they are only available in deals involving (buying) new PRS guitars....? Would do it if I could, but no new guitars (or Soup! :rotflmao) for me, for awhile.

Any other HFS replacement ideas? stuff that can be fairly easily gotten.

Thanks again..

I swapped out the ho-hum #7s and put in a pair of Dimarzio 36th Anniv PAFs. They're in there to stay.

I swapped out the stock PUp's for 1957/2008's on my SC245. The guitar now compares pretty favorably with a friend of mine's R9 with Duncan Antiquities.

Hey Frog; if I wanted to swap the 7s in mine for 57/08s, will PRS honor that swap, or is that program finished?

I have a 20th Anniv SC with Wolftones and an RS upgrade in it... that guitar is smokin' hot. Great pups. Vintage with an edge. Very happy with that combo.

Fralin Humbucker in the bridge, and a Duncan 59 in the neck.

I'm quite happy, but I'm thinking of trying an Antiquity in the bridge. I love that pickup in my Hamer.
