What song (s) would you play to prepare a woman for a night of romance?

    Oooh story time.

I met a girl at a club one night; things got heavy and we got back to my place. A few drinks later, she obviously noticed the guitars around the place.

She pretty much demanded that I play Wonderwall by Oasis for her. Now, I have scant recollection of the song. It was big when I was in school so I had obviously heard it but I've never sung it no less even played it.

Picked up the acoustic and strummed through what I thought was right. Hey, more or less first try. I knew it started with Em7, so just went from there, her being happy to sing along. No sooner got finished when we were getting down to business.

Amazing; a song I've never liked much less played and whaddyaknow... I got laid for being a guitarist.

    “Prepping a Woman”? Oy.

Nothing better than a lazy day, able to hang with someone - she’s reading or doing her own stuff, I’m in the room playing guitar the way I do anyway. Set up a groove - e.g., to Moondance or So What off Kind of Blue - and groove for a bit, or play some Motown, Beatles, or songs like Wonderful World by Sam Cooke.

It a nice way to connect and lead to deeper connections.

In terms of playing a record, along with everyone starting with Kind of Blue, Marvin Gaye and such (Yes!!) I would add:

My wife digs my rock and country music when I play it, but to really get the fires burning, something in the vein of Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr., etc.

    There are a few:

    Jane Monheit's rendition of "Spring Can Really Hang You Up;

    Zeppelin's "The Rain Song"

Debussy's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Fawn" or "Reverie" (or both)

    Gino Vannelli's "Black and Blue"

Tuck & Patty's rendition of "Cantador" or "If It's Magic"

    Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Riviera Paradise"

Tommy Emmanuel's "Morning Aire" or his rendition of "Michelle"

    Crosby, Stills, & Nash's "Guinevere"

There are others, but the woman's frame of mind and attitude at the moment in question is the determinent.

When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

This whole album. A bit of slow dancing with the light dimmed and you are golden.
