I'm changing out the Utah in my 65' Deluxe Reverb. It's too lifeless and thin. I'm looking for a speaker that will give me an overall more even E.Q. clarity and balance. More headroom would be a plus. What are you guys using and what are the sonic results?

I have an Eminence Private Jack in my 71. I have been completely happy with it. Tightens up the bass a good bit, but kind of adds a british flavor to the Deluxe Reverb. It's a pretty popular speaker for the Deluxe Reverb.

Not exactly the same, but I tried at WGS Blackhawk in my Tone King Metro and it really sounds very good. I had a Sugarcone in it before, but it actually was too much bass. The Blackhawk is a very nice balance there.

Is the Jack a V30 type speaker? Iv'e heard Vintage 30's and Jensen Neo's are great replacements...

"overall more even E.Q. and clarity. More headroom..."

EVM12L achieves this IMO in my stock DRRI, though you need to have a strong back ;)

JBL K120! One of the best speakers you can put in that amp!

It's a 50 watt greenback type speaker. Only the doping on it is much thicker looking than a greenback.

with the tone tuby there difantly less harshness, good anilco sound, more good warmth, ive used them both in old sfdr, s and newer drri amps.

    '66 non reverb Deluxe Altec 417 8H.

The Reverend Alltone is also a good match for a DR.

    TTubby ceramic here. Have tried:

    12f150
    Alltone
    Naylor
    D120f JBL
    Cele Gold

All these are good but the Tubby is a bit better to me, not ceramic harsh at all, seems like it has a warm smooth slightly extended range or something....

    eminence tonker

seems to work best as an "all-rounder." Loud & clear w/ tight bass. I had a Weber Cali w/ paper dust cap which was the bomb for cleans, but let too much fizz through when I hit the fuzz &/or distortion boxes.
