I've been searching for a mid priced tobacco burst LP. The new stanards are out of my price range.

I found this one close to home and I intend to check it out on wednesday.

    A 1980 LP Standard, 3 piece top.

The weight is nearly 10lbs -a tad heavy

The T-tops have been replaced with a JB and a Jazz in the neck

The coil tap switch had been disconected when the P/U's were replaced

Typical wormig and buckle rash on the back.

New grover tuners and knobs -original knobs included.

So what do I look for besides the obvious -repairs/ broken headstock, warping of the neck, fretwear etc??

Anything special in the control cavity to look for? Pot's, caps?

    Here's a shot:

10 lbs isnt too bad, my 70s custom weighs in closer to 13!!!
inspect it like you would any guitar.
if you can live with the weight, like the neck, etc, buy it!

I had a 1980 Les Paul Std that had a pencil thin neck. I couldn't play it very well because of the thin neck. Other than that, it was OK.
