    Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a laptop to run Cubase and record new songs. What are the minimum acceptable requirements in terms of hard disk, RAM, video card, etc.?

I will only record one track at a time and already have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro sound board.

    Thank you for your help.

I use a Acer laptop with 3GB memory, 2.2GHz, Windows 7 64 bit and it is now upgraded to 5GB memory. Get at least 3 ports USB for running devices. Add on USB sometimes doesn't work. I run Cubase Elements 6, Ableton Live Lite 8. I also use Fast Track Pro. Make sure to get Cubase version for Windows 7!

Ok thank you. Last thing: I wonder what should be the hard disk speed...? Is it important for Cubase?

My two year old SOny Vaio has no problems doing 12 channels at the same time for live recording, and its an everyday user, school, work, recording, graphics, games.

My 1.02 version of Cubase SX still runs on Win7:omg (2001?)

If your doing one track at a time I dont think Hard drive speed should be too much of an issue...let alone latency or other issues that may come up.

    This tool is handy. http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
