Basically, I'm wondering what the title says. What wire are you guys using when wiring your own cabs?

Automotive Copper Wire, Red/Black, 18 AWG
Will be the closest to stock but a little heavier
With tab terminals you can use automotive spade ends
Auto parts store, hardware and variety stores usually carry it
Solder your connections

I avoid using solid copper myself. As for the gauge, 18AWG or larger ought to do just fine. A pair of 12AWG twisted together looks nice.

Ken Fischer says old cords from vacuum cleaners give you the right sounding gage for an AC-30. We're talking sound here.

Thick stranded copper wire with a insulated sleeve.

So basically speaker wire, extension cord, appliance power cord... stuff like that. The thicker the better, so long as it's not too thick to work with.

... Last one I did was 10AWG speaker wire left over from a car audio install. Beefy! I personally stick to 14AWG or better on a regular basis.

I mostly use 12-16 AWG speaker wire like you get for home theater. What exact gauge mostly depends on what I have lying around.
