What would you put 1st in chain, MXR Classic 108 Fuzz or POG2?

I've had suggestions to put fuzz before the POG2 but I tried it and I get some massive harsh clipping on the octaves with the POG. So in my opinion put the POG first.

The fuzzes I own (MJM London II, Devi Ever Shoegazer, Devi Ever Hyperion, and a custom foxrox tone machine based pedal) really don't sound good with the POG2 before them. At full guitar volume, none of them really sound good with full chords either which is pretty indicative of how they'll sound with the POG in front.

From my experience, the POG2 takes dirty signals pretty well. You can get a cool wide open Hammond sound that way. Dirt after it makes it sound less organ-like but it's still really cool.

The POG is like having a super power.

But if I put the POG 1st will the MXR Classic Fuzz not react the same to my guitars volume knob since it's basically a fuzzface? Or does it not matter since the POG is true bypass?

The POG really should go before the MXR. The MXR also has the buffer switch so try it with it both engaged and disengaged.

And also, welcome to the world of fuzz trade offs. Ultimately you have to decide for you which is more important; the fuzz interacting with you guitar pick-ups or the POG.

This is a dilemma that we all face when 2 pedals like to be first in the chain.

or 3, or 4 :bonk Just play around with the order and see what sounds best. There shouldnt be too much of a difference if there isnt a buffer before the fuzz, but let your ears guide you.

Thanks for the replies. I just played with it at my church. I put it 1st in the chain and the POG2 2nd. I didn't end up using the POG much but i tried it briefly and it seemed to track pretty good. I'll have to play around with it more.

The Fuzz sounded awesome 1st though! Cleaned up great with the volume knob on the guitar. I don't know if I'm willing to sacrifice that. This is my first fuzz pedal (besides the tone wicker big muff that lasted on my board one day). I'm very pleased with the MXR classic 108 fuzz. I played a couple of solos with it and was blown away by the tone. Very happy with it, but I still have to mess with it a lot more to figure out all it's uses with my rig.

Thanks again for the advice

Now put a comp in front of the POG and it'll REALLY come to life.

HE HE HE.......

Compressor, POG , EQ. , Muskette....... watch the skies part. :D

I'll have to try putting my fuzzes first in the chain again though, I rememeber my POG getting sorta muddy or tracking strangely with fuzz before, might have to try some rearranging though...... miss that guitar volume tweak for fuzz pedals, especially the ones designed to work that way!.
