Fat, meaty p-90 tone in a humbucker sized pickup for a Les Paul?

I have a RS kit in my Les Paul, would I need to change it if I popped in a p-90 type?

Fralin P-90 (special order, not on his website anymore) or perhaps the Harmonic Design Z90...

No problem at all.....call Lindy Fralin and buy his "P-92".
    http://www.fralinpickups.com/humbuckers.asp
He says they sound just like a P-90....but are hum canceling....AND they are the same size as standard PAF's.
Don't change a thing with regards to your existing RS-Kit.
You will need to buy the (Nickel) covers he sells though, AND be sure to ask him how many turns each Pick-up should have. Lindy will recommend the proper ones by discussing YOUR application.
Good to go....let us know how they sound.

I have a Duesenberg Domino in neck position on my Aria FA65, couldn't find any difference on a Blues Deville with a 60s ES330 that was at my luthier when I got it back.

im gonna go out on a limb here and say that i really disliked the Z-90's. the neck P/U was WAY to bassy, and the bridge was too thin. and yes, i did expeariment for a while w/ different height adjustments and all..just didnt do it for me at all....

now the P-92's...different story...killer pickup, and lindy knows how to make em. these are nice and plump, and sound just like a P-90 to my ears...good luck on yer search bro..

Pete at Vintage Vibe Guitars makes a variety of P-90s, including a single coil sized one, and a humbucker sized one. Plus, one model of his regular P-90s comes with both alnico and ceramic magnets, that can be swapped easily for different tones.

Pete at Vintage Vibe makes a tremendous hum-sized P-90. I had a couple in a Strat project, and they were as good as any pickup I've ever had. I will definitely use them again.
