I've discovered that some pedal go exceptionally well with Fenders and a few go well with Marshalls, but is there an amp that takes all types of pedals (OD, reverb, fuzz, etc.) really, really well? I'd rather buy more pedals than more amps........

I have heard good things about the workhorse amps from Visual Sound. supposed to be a an all clean 'tube amp' made for pedals. You can even chose between 6v6 and El84's . Problem is no one here has played/ or seen or have soundclips of one available. I live about 45 mins. from Visual Sound's headquarters and I still have never seen nor heard one...go figure?

I was going to say my new MAZ 18 Jr seems to take them pretty well.

My Macht 12x and my Alpha & Omega take don't have any trouble with pedals.

Carr Rambler takes my pedals very well. GE7 EQ>Xotic AC Booster>Analogman Mini Chorus>Boss DD-5. Also takes my Keely TS-808 and gives the Rambler that Gilmore tone on triode 14w mode! Very Cool indeed. Oh yeah, I'm using 56 Relic strats.

I was surprised that my 63 AC-30 loves pedals. My previous AC-30 made everything harsh. This one loves them all.

Any Silverface or Blackface Fender tube amp will do the job. It seems like a lot of pedal designers use these to test out their pedals.

Any pedal I've ever tried has sounded great through my Dr. Z Route 66.

Probably tried 20 or more pedals through my old Heritage Victory combo.
It made all of them sound great!

Any decent tube amp with a good clean sound that can be set to "almost breakup point" at a level that cuts through the mix, but isn't too loud, should be a good pedal platform.

    My top three favorites:
    Two-Rock CR Artist
    Pure 64 "64"
    Bruno CT22

Honorable mention to the D13 JRT 9/15

Amps I own that I find are more particular about pedals:
    Matchless JJ-30
    Top Hat CR 1X12
    Allen Encore 2X10

I've alwas heard that Dr Z are the bomb for pedals but I have never owned one. I will agree wholeheartedly with the earlier post regarding Silver Face Fenders. My Twin loved just about any pedal I put in front of it. It's the best amp I've ever played for taking pedals. Kind of a blank canvas.

Ya the Dr. Z amp I tried with my board took everything great, and umm yea Fenders are not known for taking pedals great, They do make some pedals shine but you're going to find some that it'll be picky with for sure
