Whats the difference between a TS and OD

    They both seem to do the same things, but I would like some clarification of the difference between the both.
    I am assuming you guys know what I am talking about. (tubescreamer and overdrive)
    They both seem like overdrives to me.

    TS is a specific OD made by Maxon/Ibanez.

    A Tubescreamer is the brand name of an overdrive.

    Ok so there really is no difference between the two.

    No, a tube screamer is a brand of overdrive, not a separate type of pedal.

    An overdrive is a type of effect. A tubescreamer is a specific example of an overdrive. It is also probably the most famous/copied/talked about overdrive so it has in some ways separated all overdrives into TS-clones and the rest.

    All tubescreamers are overdrives.

    Not all overdrives are tubescreamers.
