    Hi,

I've narrowed it down between these two to upgrade my '96 rosewood fretboard MIM strat.

From doing some research on Youtube, they both sound really good. But I'm having a hard time choosing and I can't find a side by side comparison of the two pickups.

So what is the difference between the two?

I don't know much about the 69 but Im in love with the SSL-1 pickups, maybe because they are powerful pickups that work really good with gain.

The CS 69's are my Favorite Strat PU for Neck and Middle--I like the SSL5 for bridge(for a true SC)

    I also use 2 69's with a HB in the Bridge.--Love them.

To my ears ssl1s have a touch more mids and are more well rounded pickups compared to the really heavy mid scooped cs69.

+1. And I would say it's even more than just a touch more mids. It's actually pretty obvious to my ears.

Si, it's really obvious when you listen to John Frusciante playing his beloved sunburst Strat which has SSL1's.

Cool. Thanks for the info, guys. I just ordered three SSL-1 California 50's from Sweetwater. Can't wait to try them out!
