What is frequency range that makes an amp sound like someones driving an ice pick into your eardrums?

    3 kHz.

The ear is non-linear in frequency response vs level (google "Fletcher Munson Equal Loudness Contour curves" and read up).

3kHz is where the ear is most sensitive.

The frequency a small child makes when screaming in a store.

For me when you get 2k and above you are getting into a smoother, shimmer sound (especially from 2.5 kHz and up).

For me the ice pick is more like 1.2 to 1.6 kHz. The place where midrange is "brittle" and makes your ear itch.

Bass on 2, Treble on 7, Reverb on 3, mix well, add Telecaster, season with additional equalization and compression to your liking.

Quick, now someone measure it, and its harmonics.

A baby screaming does the same thing. It's the reason I didn't have children.

I think it's the same reason that one of my GSD b*tches tried to kill her first born.
