And one off gold/diamond or similars doesn't count!

I've always thought of PRS as the most expensive 'consumer' guitars, meaning readily available to the public and not custom made for Slash or Jimmy Page.

Of course, then they came out with all of their lower end stuff.

But still, I would say them and Gibson...

Fender and Ibanez have always felt 'middle class'.

Then... Jackson and Epi, and Squire, lol...

    Scharpach

    Buscarino

    Gilchrist

    Monteleone

all Archtop builders, so mush easier to be higher priced. I believe the Scharpach Vienna is like $50,000 or something crazy. Very beautiful though

High end archtop builders like these are the ones that immediately come to mind for me as well.

Absolutely going to be Arch Top builders for solid bodies, I'd think Gil Yaron guitars cost a pretty penny.

Strandberg's made in Japan are some of the most expensive I have looked at ($7000 USD or so). I have also seen some very expensive PRS Private Stock models and of course the Gibson and Fender custom shops both can get very pricey depending on the model. Also I have seen some $10,000 ESPs from Japan as well.

With acoustics its a different story.. I have seen some as high as $15,000 (USD).

Alembic was the first non-archtop brand that came to mind.

i feel gibson is way overpriced.

fender has many options but most of their guitars are still over priced. their new HM guitars are ridiculously bad quality, in terms of parts for the price they are charging, a total joke.

ibanez average guitars that are overly expensive

i think schehter and ltd guitars are the best quality for the price they charge. very high quality for very reasonable price.

Handmade classical and flamenco guitars will set you back a pretty penny.

For example, Conde Hermanos is a well-known brand. Their budget models start at $2,600+

    However, Marchione do manufacture his guitars mostly with his hands. Very little machinery in his shop. He is on his own, and has made his own artistic creations;

Last and not least, he is one of the few that carves you a guitar out of a single blank.... no joints!

Teuffel and Alembic come to mind, although if you can get Blackmachine to build you a guitar...

The base price for a Somogyi is about $40 thousand, and you could add another $15 thousand or so for optional extras. He might not be the most expensive acoustic luthier.
