What’s with JCM 800 Prices?

I’ve been looking at 2203/2204s and the prices people are asking are crazy.

It's gotten so crazily high in the last 20 years I couldn't justify keeping mine anymore and unloaded them all. There are just too many amplifiers these days that do the same thing.

what’s crazy? you can get late 70s 2203 and 2204 in the ballpark of 1200 bucks and that seems pretty fair for today’s economy. cheaper than what most boutique companies charge that still can’t always recapture that same sound.

yeah maybe, those are a steal. there’s a lot out there based on the 2204/03 but often costs even more than the real deal. heck even marshalls own reissue is ridiculous compared to used vintage.

reverb prices are always inflated because people want to cover the associated fees, but out in the real world its much cheaper. just grabbed another 2203 three weeks ago.

There is a 2x12 50W advertised for 800 euro locally.

Dropped from 1K over the last few months.

Obviously I'm a little closer to Bletchley than the US or Oz.

Fair price for a great amp.

The lowest I've seen locally was 600 euro emergency cash situation...
