Double Double Animal Style, Fries Well Done Animal Style and a Neopolitan shake please.

I've been known to smuggle them back to the East Coast when I'm out west on biz trips. Ah, the dangers of being a fat guy.

Another kick ass place is The Hat in Lake Forest, Ca just off of Rockfield and the 5 Freeway. It's been there foreave and they make killer pastrami sanwiches.

Gotta go with Hut's in Austin, though I also love the burgers at Roadhouse in Bastrop

Slater's looks good - I'll have to try that next trip to SoCal. Wow, useful information from an It's Time thread! A sign of the apocalypse?

In-N-Out is a tasty burger, maybe the best of the fast food burgers, but it's far from the best burger on the planet. It's still a fast food burger. It doesn't compare to a small gourmet burger outfit like Kincaid's in Texas. For that matter, it doesn't even compare to Red Robin.

Gourmet burger > fast food burger. Glad I could help.

It was Otto's in Houston  there no longer.

Cooter Brown's in New Orleans is where I spent the most burger time, although I do love the burgers at Port of Call and Camellia Grill.

The Palm (in WeHo or NYC) has the best burgers by far. I haven't tried the other locations, but I'm sure they're also delicious and probably just as expensive....

Classic "Prime" Steak Burger 12 ounce cheddar, gouda or Danish blue cheese
Sauces: Brandy Peppercorn, Hollandaise, Bearnaise and Chimichurri

For fast food, it's either In-N-Out or if you want a chili burger at 4AM (don't knock it until you've tried it) to soak up some booze, it's Tommy's, Tom's #5 or any one of a dozen Tommy's copycats...

I love In-N-Out Burgers. I always get a 4x4. 4 hamburgers, 4 slices of cheese, onions, tomatos, lettuce, their sauce and two sponge dough buns with a french fry and Diet Coke. I go about once a week. I work with a guy that goes 3 times a week.

Odd, but I do the same thing...order a diet Coke with my 2500 calorie burger and fries. I prefer the taste. Regular Coke is too sweet. I haven't drank it in probably 15 years.

Red Robin sucks IMO. We don't have In and Out in NC but give me Five Guys over RR any day of the week.

I think regular Coke is too sweet too and if I have the chance I'll cut it with soda water but I can't stand the aftertaste from artificial sweeteners.
