What's your favorite fretboard inlay?

    Blocks? Dots? Or something else? Or no inlays? Mother of pearl? Abalone? Or even plastic? Pics are welcome.

    My favorite all time inlay is Gibson's split parallelogram

    Dots. Gibson style blocks are okay, but I tend to not like the way they feel. Largely, that doesn't really matter in a real world playing situation anyway.

    I like the Gibson split parallelograms and trapezoids. For Fenders, though, I prefer simple, traditional dots.

    The main thing I don't like in inlays is having one on the very first fret. I also don't like crosses, lightning bolts, vines, or birds.

    As a vet, this inlay, when I first saw it, really spoke to me. Would love to have this on a PRS.
