What's your favorite James Bond 007 theme song?

Carly Simon...although I am admittedly probably a bit biased since that was the first Bond movie for me and holds a special place in my memory.

I think the "formula" for Bond songs has become fairly stale. They're all expected to have a certain sound. Adele's Skyfall theme did nothing for me because it was so locked into that sound. Similarly, Billie Eilish's attempt suffers from the same thing, plus it's meshed with her whisper singing style, which has really worn thin for me at this point. I am definitely over the Eilish phenomenon. But if you're into that style, somebody mentioned Garbage's "The World Is Not Enough" earlier, and that's a pretty good theme. That one has stuck in my head more than the other themes in recent Bond films. Sheryl Crow's too. The Madonna one, not so much.

I think the 80s may have been the best at departing from that formula, though they suffer from sounding like they were recorded in the 80s. Live & Let Die and Nobody Does It Better from the 70s also deviated enough from that formula, but I've honestly never liked Live & Let Die. I don't know why-- just don't like it.

Not into Billie Eilish, too squirrelly, more breathing than singing, it's almost annoying.

Cornell is probably my favorite, with Garbage a close second, Adele is a great one, but most of the old movie songs don't do much for me.

My personal favorite is just, literally, the Bond theme. You know the one.

But I have a soft spot for this version of OHMSS...

These guys also did a song with Ms. Shirley that I really like as well.

Also responsible for this Matrix moment... at around the 1:15 mark.

One of the only electronic albums I ever got in to. Sorry for the partial hijack. :aok

Lowell George’s baby girl Inara (and her bandmate/ producer Greg Kirst) should get the call for a Bond theme.

Here's the best unique ending theme in my book, Chrissie Hynde "If There Was a Man" from Dalton's excellent Living Daylights. She looks GREAT and is very sexy here, too. Shows a little more vulnerability than usual.

I'm a huge fan of so many Bond themes. Without digging in, I couldn't remember them all at the moment, but I really get:

A View To a Kill - TOTAL '80s moment, this was the first Bond I saw at the theater as a kid
For Your Eyes Only - My fave Moore film
Nobody Does It Better - Close 2nd Moore and probably the best Moore objectively
Live and Let Die
The World Is Not Enough - Very Moody and Very '90s
Goldfinger
All the Time in the World
The Living Daylights - Very modern late '80s
If There Was a Man

I was also fond of this one that was always playing in Necros headphones throughout the film.

Tough call but I would say For Your Eyes Only, if I absolutely had to name one. Or Nobody Does it Better. Or Live and Let Die. Wait . . . .

You Know My Name from Casino Royale is my favorite and goes well with the best instro and origin of the gun barrel scene. There are so many good ones, but since I consider that the best opening and the best Bond movie of all time (I love Sean Connery, a ton, so that's a tough opinion to hold), I'm sticking with it.

This is where John Barry got the idea in the first place, Monty is credited as the writer:

John Barry wrote some of my all time favorite music. He nailed it.

Here's a link to a great podcast on this very topic, they cover the music from every movie.
