When in half power mode, do the ohms double?

I just got a half power switch installed in my amp, and I'm just confirming that on half power mode my 2 ohm jack functions as a 4 ohm jack for practical purposes.

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

    hehe

Yes, on second thought this is a really dumb post on my part! I don't get the amp back until tomorrow, and I was wondering about this, and just posted without thinking.

I'll leave this up for a couple hours so that every one can have their shot at chastisement, and then down it comes before my face turns too red.

    ;)

In the Mesa Boogie Lone Star & Lone Star Specials I have that have the power cutting stuff: "the ohms remain the same."

Hey, no worries.... On my 36 watt amp, I do a half power switch by cutting the PA plate voltage in half ; and the "ohms remain the same".

If it's a factory installed 1/2 power switch, read the manual. The factory switch on my SL-X does not affect the ohms but the tone. It switches the tube mode from pentode to triode which does not sound good with my set up.

Only in 4 tube amps that turn off two of the outputs.
