already has depending on the guitars... IE: Reverend
About the time American companies stop importing goods from that country, because they have found another country that will make them cheaper. It all has to do with the "cantgetability" of the goods...nothing is more valuable than "unobtanium".
When" Made on a barge in international water by trained monkeys" becomes standard.
I suspect the following order
Made in China
Made in India
Made in Vietnam
Made in Tunisia
and 50 years from now
Made in Iraq
Some of the best movies are made in Korea...does that count?
When will made in Korea hype start?
..... it already started in the consumer electronics field, guitars will follow soon.
"... but I'm looking for that unique Korean poly finish."
I'd like to say never, but it has already started. Made in Korea guitars and amps are considered superior to Made in China. The Orange Tiny Terror is one example.
No kidding, isn't it funny how new fads start and arbitrarily, by human standards, become good.
This, in my opinion, applies heavily to the whole relic fad. A relic makes it better? Worth more? I will never understand such random concept.
"This relic was done by ______, so it's top-notch"
So, it was professionally scraped up and tinted?
Anyways, no MIK guitars do it for me just yet, but yeah, you never know.
It happens all the time on Trademe, the NZ auction site. "This is a superior Korean Epiphone, not like the Chinese junk at the Rockshop" comes up time and again.
It's already started for me - Check out http://www.customguitarworkshop.com
These are the best guitars money can buy. I pick them up from their distributor new on eBay Australia for even lower prices than on their main site. These are awesome guitars. I've bought 8 so far. Made in Korea hype has arrived.
Dang, you beat me to it! I just happened to be surfing Ebay for one today and found the proof. Note that the seller's saying (in full caps, natch), "THE QUALITY IS ALOT BETTER COMPARED TO ALL THE ONES THAT ARE MADE IN CHINA NOW."
I have several guitar's, my Made in Korea PRS SE singlecut Soapbar will be one of the last to go!
It is possible to get a good guitar no matter what part of the planet it's made on. So I don't understand any of this "Made in...." guitars are better than......!
Each guitar is different, some good some bad.
Does your TT have a sticker that says "Made in Korea"?
It'll be soon. Samick and Cort ghost-build for a lot of brands, and their own stuff is nothing to sneeze at. Korean builds now seem to have better qc than many other low-cost locations (China, Indonesia), and they put out quality stuff. Not as good as Japan, not as good as U.S., but reliably within range...
HOLY GOD!! With those prices I wish I could believe you!!
haha awesome thread! I was thinking about this the other day when I picked up an Epi LP made in China! I was just thinking geez, now the Korean ones are going to be more than a new one!
There it is.
I drive a Hyundai.......
