Ive looked at the redwirez and ownhammer ones for purchase and tried their free 1960 cab but they are too complicated with too many variations - i cant face trawling thru them all

i just want sold good solid simple alternatives to the ones already in the axe fx 2

any suggestions?

Get the RedWirez ones and focus on the edge of the cap at 1". Try a few different mics. That should really narrow it down for you.

The pack I've had the best results with on my GSP is the Guitar Hacks pack. Just do a quick Google search and it'll pop right up.

The conclusion nowadays seems that the Ownhammers are "better". Quicker to make a choice and need no or much less EQ to sit well in the mix (based on the opinions of a few guys I trust on FAS forum).
The RWs are still great for bedroom playing or more choices.

I thank both companies and it's always possible a new firmware may turn this around again ;)

I generally prefer the Ownhammers. But the RW are great too!

I don't mess with IRs that much.... Basically stay with the stock Axe II cabs. Too easy for me to get caught up in the chase!

When I use the Red Wirez I tend to stick to the SM57 mic, Cone 1". That's the "official" placement recommended by Shure and works for me.

When using the OwnHammers I use the stock ones (without extra mic simul.) or I use SM57 #1 or #2.
