I wish there was a subsection here for that, but unfortunately there is not. Is there a forum out there where gigging musicians go to discuss gigging, band management, etc? Talkbass has a decent section, but I would like to find one with a non instrument specific base. Any ideas? Thanks.

Harmony Central has Backstage with the Band. This forum works for that too.

Thanks. I know we can talk about it here, but the band bashing threads seem to drown it out. Hard to dig to find a thread about working musicians.

I don't see any of that there. Doesn't sound like you're thinking of the same forum I am.

Gigging musicians talk about gigs at their gigs, or at the bar... the rest of us talk here :D

The HC page is pretty good. There's a nice camaraderie going on there.

It's funny because all the guitar owners on this site always rag on HC, but there seem to be more guys who actually have experience playing gigs over there.

But TGP must look down their snouts at the unwashed HC.

As much as I don't like too many sub-forums, I'd welcome this.

The last thing I want to do on my days off is talk about work.

When I was playing full time, (even part time) I don't think I talked much about the work. The exception is when you'd bump into another travelling band and then the discussion would turn into best local restaurants, girls and beer. Music was a given.

Nothing wrong with HC. And the BSWTB sub forum is mature, civil, and very well behaved. Not to mention, very helpful. To be honest, TGP is actually much more annoying.

I said the same thing about having a gigging forum at TGP about a month ago.

I agree - it would be a very good thing.

I agree, a gigging forum would be good.

BSWTB is quite a decent place and I've used it to pick peoples brains more than a few times but would be better if there was a similar forum here as its the only reason I ever go to HC

Maybe they could combine gig announcements with gig discussion and move it to the lounge section? It'd at least give gig announcements more visibility. I never look at that forum.

    You ARE TGP,man.
    Shame on you. :)

*It would be cool to have a "room" or "bar" or "hangout" for those of us who gig.
I played last nite, Fat Tuesday thing, and am running on empty today. Good gig, though...so totally worth it.
