I'm looking to get some tubes for a tweed deluxe clone I just purchased. I am looking for information on who you all buy your tubes from. If anyone wants to chime in on recommendations for specific tubes, that would be lovely as well.

Also, how much should I expect to pay for a couple sets ov 6v6's and several pre amp tubes?

Email him, tell him what you have, and what you are wanting to accomplish with that amp. He will recommend and hit your target. He'z that good...

Doug seemed like a pretty helpful guy. I gave www.eurotubes.com a try. The guy was nice, and if you want JJ's, ha, thats where to go.

    Doug's Tubes is #1

Kudo's to Lord Valve as well.

Angela Instruments sold me a quad of JAN Phillips 6L6WGC, and they are fabulous

+1 on Doug's Tubes...he's a really nice guy and always has great service. I'll sometimes go to Eurotubes.com for power tubes but I hate JJ12AX7's more than any other tube ever.

Reason being is that I NEVER hear anyone here talk about one of my three sources and he's as reliable and top notch as Mike K so I may be giving away a minor secret of mine. I am in a hording kind of mood after all :p

There are three sources I use for my tubes which are predominantly all vintage tubes. The last NP tube I bought was probably 2 to 2 1/2 years ago.

My primary source and first stop is:

    www.kcanostubes.com

My semi secret (secret at least judging by the absence of reference to him) close second source is:

www.audiotubes.com To find the 6L6 types, KT66, KT88 and 65550 types click on the Audiophile Tubes button

Brent Jessee Studios happens to be one of the dealers who may have something in stock that Mike K may not at any given time but then vice versa too.

    Third is:

    www,ebay.com

Brent Jessee's wep page is a decent tube guide reference too ;)

    + 1 for Doug Preston (www.dougstubes.com)

Doug also happens to be a Fender Tweed fanatic. He REALLY knows his stuff when it comes to tweed amps. :AOK

Tube Tramp and Tubemonger are two that I've dealt with recently with real good results. While I've never bought anything from him (not yet anyway), I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Mike from KCA.
