Anyone know where to purchase Vintage Pickups? Specifically, I'm looking for some 50's Filtertrons. Are there dealers that regularly have these kinds of things and check them so that you know they are in proper working order? Or are you limited to ebay?

I've gotten pickups on eBay and it always worked out well.

Ebay used to be great for old parts of all sorts, including p.u.s. Not so much anymore. Before ebay I always went to JK Luthierie in Ohio. Dunno if they're still in business. Jay Rosen in S.F. maybe?

Make sure you do your homework in order to make sure that you're getting the real thing and not a fake.

You wouldn't believe how many "vintage PAFs" are out there and are fakes.

Let us know what you think of the 50's FilterTrons if you get them. I've never had a vintage one before.

I can tell you that vintage Super'Trons sound magnificent.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely do my homework. If I can ever get my hands on one I'll let you know how it is. Otherwise, maybe I'll check for some vintage supertrons. That sounds very cool.

JK Luthierie is still in business, bought a DVD from them last week. Always great pricing and they ship super quick.

But do they still keep a vast inventory of used parts? Back when I used to go to guitar shows they always had multiple tables covered with stuff.
