I've built a parts tele with stuff I got off of eBay. I spent a total of $400 and most of the parts were fairly low quality. I got an allparts neck that I really loved and the body was a B-stock that I found for $120 from some eBay seller. I'm planning on building a parts strat soon and I'm wondering where the best place is to get parts? Is eBay the way to go?
Especially about the body, which I feel like is a major part of the sound, where is the place to go to get a nice alder body without dropping a boatload of money? Are MIM Fender Standard strat bodies made of decent wood or should I try to find something nicer? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
