Where do you put your '69?

I've been using a Fulltone '69 at the end of my overdrives and fuzzes.

But it doesn't seem to really give as much volume--it feels like there is a little bit of "ducking" (perhaps?)

I have heard a little bit that they don't like buffers, so if another in front of it is not true bypass... could that be my problem?

Where do you all put yours?

    This is my chain...

Zvex Super Duper 2-in-1 --> Line 6 FM-4 --> EB VPJR (To Tuner) --> Klon Centaur --> Crowther Hot Cake --> Zvex Fuzz Factory --> Crowther Prunes & Custard --> Fulltone '69 --> T-Rex Replica --> EHX Deluxe Memory Man --> Frantone Vibutron --> EHX Holy Grail Reverb

Would any of that effect it?

    Right before my '70. :p

Usually it is best to keep fuzzes first in the chain because of the way they react to impedance but so much of this advice is personal preference.

It needs to be first in the chain if you want any volume knob dynamics out of it.

First or after true bypass pedals only.

Right after my Pic Wah, which is true bypass. I actually have a London Fuzz, but same general idea. It hates buffers and like others have said, needs to be first so it will clean up with the guitar's volume.

I put mine on Ebay. Hated to, but $275 sounded better at the time (when my rent was due...).

'69 is Germanium right? If so, it needs to go before anything else because that circuit is reactive to the pickups. Anywhere else, will choke it.

    Yes, it's Germanium.
And yes, I think it sounds best if it is first in the chain.

    cheers,

They aren't made any more; however, you can get a Sunface built any way you like and Mike as the old old style transistors if you want an even smoother sound. That's what I got.

I usually drop it in right after my eternity, pog, and marshall gov.

Just curious, why does having a germanium transistor make it a necessity for going first in line?

I switched it around a week ago, and it is AWESOME.

Thanks for the input (pun intended?)

I know that most folks say the germanium fuzzes should be first in the chain, but it never worked for me when I wanted to simultaniously use it with an OD pedal.
To be exact, none of my fuzzes (Analogman NKT Sunface, Fulltone '69 and Sweet Sound PI Face) has worked that way! I always place the OD in front of them.
