I've had it with nickel frets - any suggestions?
This is a hardtail Ibanez JS2000 electric guitar I'm having refetted
I'm actually an hour north of NYC, in case that helps.

    Thanks in advance.

-You should consider having it done elsewhere. Getting it done here in NYC means overcharged tourist prices and possibly not the best work....

Another thing is lead time, "two weeks" can miraculously turn into many months.

Rick Kelly at Carmine Street Guitars tends to be more reasonably priced than most. He has an apprentice named Chris who is also quite good and he's into shred guitars.

any good tech should be able to handle it... Stainless doesn't require any "special" talent... just a harder squeeze when ya cut 'em

I just called him about this question. He does do stainless steel. I encourage the OP to at least give him a call. He's a great tech and a very nice easy to get along with person.

Here's a tangent for you if our heart isn't set on stainless - have you heard of Evo gold fret wire? Half way between nickel and stainless in hardness, gold/copper color all the way through so no plating to wear off. Apparently as easy to install as nickel (so you're more likely to find someone who will do it close by), with the added benefit of being more durable. Anyway, I just came across it a couple of days ago and was thinking I would like to try it.
