He fell off my radar long ago for some unknown reason.
I see Elton John say to Elvis Costello what a huge influence he was, then does a quickie Leon demo that was right on the money, & it friggen KILLED!

Leon is back on my radar, I got a little distracted.

Got to see Leon in a small music theater right here in Waxahachie, TX. a few years ago.
It was a blast. Full of energy at the show though his daughter told my wife he had been ill for a stretch.

I opened for Leon about four years ago at a club in Farmingdale, LI. The most memorable part of the night was meeting and having a "few" drinks with his young guitar player, an amiable Southern chap, before his set even started.

This young man guzzled Jack Daniels like a madman! I've been around a bar or two in my time, but this guy was something else. I was astonished to see him get up on stage later and complete the gig with little apparent difficulty.

He was only in his early-30's, but told of a life on the road with Leon that made me fairly happy I chose not to pursue a pro career when I had an opportunity to do so in my 20's. Kinda sad. He was not a very content individual and his love for the music he played had long died inside him.

Oh yeah, Leon looked pretty hurtin'

Been a Leon fan for a long time. I've got his last few Cds and they're all good.

I have his early stuff and love it, but I'm not too sure of getting his recent recordings because they just don't get air play. I'm not familiar with anything since The Wedding Album.

I know he still tours and is in the line-up for the Music Cares Tribute to Neil Young being held around Grammy time.

Can someone chime in and tell me about his recent recordings?
    Thanks

He comes to the Virginny side of DC every year in Falls Church in late February. He always has a great band. He puts on a great show. My first "concert" was Leon in 72 and I was in the 7th. grade and my older brother took me. He had a huge band rather like Mad Dogs and Englishmen, or most of that band. Anyway, he gained a lot of weight, but still sings great and puts on a great show and a great band. He has a monster keyboard rig where he can play 2 different instraments with his 2 hands and feet. I never understod why he never got in the R and R all of fame... He has a nice Christmas hymns CD. It is a dad midi/metallic sounding, but really fine playing.

LR should be in the R&R HOF if just for the sideman work he's done over the years! For many years he was on just about every album I think lol. Not to mention all the tunes he penned that other artists made hits out of.
