I've been happy with Doug at Doug's Tubes. When I call, he answers the phone and gives me direct, no baloney answers.

A friend of mine has used EuroTubes for questions and tube supplies.

Antique Electronic Supply are also very response for tube questions, but may not be as knowledgeable as Doug or EuroTube.

Finally, there's TejasTubes who seems to specialize in New Old Style tubes. Great guy and a great Texan too!

Are they RCA Blackplate 6l6gc in your Tremolux?

Curious as i use my 63 Tremolux to test bias stability/matching of my various tubes, they are great amps with their lower plate volts and really sing with RCA Blackplate 6l6gc, almost early Marshall JTM 45 in the way the RCA Blackplates breakup.

Doug does a great job and won't try to sell you anything you don't need.

your local radio/tv repair shop that is at least 30 years old will be reputable and not as much as a rip off.

Tube Depot has some of the best prices I've seen, and they sell tons of other stuff.. So if you ever need to change tubes AND have a DIY project on your mind, check them out.. www.tubedepot.com

The 2 best IMHO are dougs tubes and KCA tubes.

Hey Coach I sent you a PM. CW will set you right and it won't cost you and arm and a leg. Nice amp BTW. Those Tremolux's are highly over looked.

I'm into cryogenic valves in a big way myself and espec. with current production ones the treatment compensates for the lousy steel used in them. Less microphonic too. My vendor is www.cryoset.com. Perhaps not the most knowledgeble seller, Ron, but I've never had one valve go microphonic as a qualityissue.

I laughed at this notion at first... but then remembered that there is a TV and VCR repair shop near my office. How they stay in business at this point in time is beyond me.

KCA is my first choice. I've gotten a lot of tubes from Mike that have consistently been high quality and competitively priced. His recommendations have always been spot on. Plus he lives 5 minutes away from me, so its easy to drive over and pickup what I've ordered. If Mike doesn't have something I need then I'll try Hi-Test, Uncle Spot or Lord Valve/NBS Electronics. All 3 are very knowledgeable and have great tubes available. I haven't bought tubes from TejasTubes but I did buy a dumbleator from Joshua and it was a excellent deal - great communication and packing job, and quick shipping. I wouldn't hesitate to buy tubes from him. Although not a tube dealer, TGP member guitarman_1 sometimes sells NOS tubes, and is a great guy to deal with. I've purchased NOS tubes from Orlando and we've also done a speaker trade and I've always been very happy with the deals I've done with him.
